AMBLECOTE youngsters have been busy decking trees at Peters Hill Primary School with their own eco-friendly Christmas decorations.

Creative pupils made their own decorations from recycled materials and on Monday December 3 they were adorned on trees in the grounds of the Peters Hill Road school during a tree dressing day.

The tree dressing initiative was started in 1990 by the charity Common Ground to encourage schools to take an interest in their environment and to celebrate trees and ancient customs from around the world.

While children at the school made the eco decorations from things like ribbons and twigs as part of a series of lessons on recycling and the environment.

Jo Page, the school’s environmental team leader, said "The children are very aware of the environment and this was a great opportunity to see them working together.”
