1) 2012 RYA West Midlands Regional Young Sailor of the Year, Mya Kilpatrick-Wood, receives her award from Bob Fisher, chairman of the Yachting Journalists Association
A TEENAGE Himley Hall Sailing Club member has been named Young Sailor of the Year.
Mya Kilpatrick-Wood, aged 16, was awarded the prestigious RYA West Midlands Regional Young Sailor of the Year Award 2012 during the London International Boat Show.
The award, from British sailing’s national governing body, recognises the outstanding achievements of youth sailors across the country.
Mya, who joined the sailing club when she was 12, was chosen for the award in recognition of her dedication to establish a junior section at the Himley Hall-based club, which she runs ever Thursday evening.
She has also raises funds for the junior section and has been its representative on the club’s main committee.
Mya was amongst 13 RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year winners who are nominated by RYA affiliated sailing clubs.
The awards were presented by Bob Fisher, Chairman of the Yachting Journalists Association.
