A STOURBRIDGE sports club is celebrating after scoring a massive total to help players prepare for their matches in style.

Stourbridge Cricket Club's plans for upgrades to the club's changing and shower facilities are better off by £42,810 after grants of £32,810 from Sport England’s Places People Play Inspired Facilities Fund, £8,000 from Cory Environmental Trust in Britain and £2,000 from Dudley MBC.

Companies ADS Supply Ltd and H.S. Richards Ltd have pledged to donate their services to the project.

Stourbridge Cricket Club chairman, Harilal Patel, said: “We are obviously delighted by this news and forever grateful to all of the funders that have made this project possible.

"Back to back promotions put Stourbridge Cricket Club in the fast lane with a bright and challenging future against the big boys in the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League and these new changing facilities will inspire our players to meet those challenges."

The club has invested around £170,000 over the last five years in upgrades including community practice facility, the restoration of the clubhouse roof and the installation of renewable energy systems.

Improvements to the changing facilities will include replacing the wooden sub-floor, relaying drainage, a new umpires changing room, new ceilings, new resin flooring and additional toilets.
