Excitement as Brierley Hill schoolgirls meet boy band heroes
4:32pm Monday 11th February 2013 in Local
Caitlin Smart (aged eight) Bryany Palmer (aged eight), Georgie Palmer (aged 11), Ellie Smart (aged eight) show Union J their handmade poster.
FOUR excited Brierley Hill school friends got to meet their boy band heroes when they were chosen as the winners of a best banner competition.
Peter’s Hill Primary school twins Caitlin and Ellie Smart, aged eight, together with eight year-old Bryany and 11-year-old Georgie Palmer, spent four hours making their poster for Union J, ahead of the X Factor tour at the LG Arena on Saturday night.
The girls, who had front row seats on the side block, sellotaped their handiwork to the railings and were overjoyed when they were approached during the show and invited backstage to meet the boys, as their banner had been chosen as the winner.
Caitlin and Ellie’s mum, Cheryl, said: “The girls were ecstatic and were in tears at meeting the band, they were so happy.
“The band spent a while chatting to them and signed their poster and told my girls they were the first set of twin fans they had met, so that made them feel quite special.”
The band also videoed the girls with their banner and later posted it on their official UnionJWorld Twitter account.
