DUDLEY’S different faiths gathered together to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.

Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh Members of Dudley Borough Interfaith Network gathered at St James’ Church at Eve Hill to learn more about the  origins of Pancake Day, before they tucked into some home-made delights and took part in a Pancake Day race in the church’s crypt.

Pastor Adrian Lowe,  of Amblecote Christian Fellowship, presented an insight into the broad aspects of the Christian faith and the origins of Shrove Tuesday.

He said: “In the Christian faith calendar, Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, a six week period when people give up something they enjoy.”
