A KINGSWINFORD pub is set to be the venue for a star-studded charity auction to help people coping with cancer.

Trudy Derry will be organising the event on Saturday March 2 at The Bridge, Moss Grove, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The auction will feature lots ranging from the latest signed Osmonds CD to signed football items from England's Rio Ferdinand and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Other top auction goodies include a weekend in Devon with tickets to Newton Abbot Races, a recording session at the Moochers studio in Stourbridge and a family skiing lesson at Telford Snowboard and Ski Centre.

Trudy said: "I have suffered personally from the disease as have friends and family and know what a good job Macmillan Cancer Support do.

"The money raised on the day will go towards things like helping with fuel costs so they can visit patients and general running costs as it is expensive to run a charity.

"I am grateful to everyone who has provided auction items including Wolverhampton Civic Hall, the football teams and Newton Abbot Racecourse, there is something there to interest everyone."

Held in conjunction with 102.5 The Bridge Radio, the event will also feature live music and entertainment all afternoon and a buffet.

Entrance to the fun day - which starts at 1pm and goes on until 8pm - will cost £4.
