Crooks take thousands in Kingswinford cashpoint scams

CASHPOINT crooks have been robbing thousands of pounds by skimming customers' cards at ATMs in Kingswinford.

Cops have released CCTV images of two men they want to interview in connection with a spate of spyware devices which were discovered on machines in Market Street.

The devices gather details from cards and the information has been used by offenders to withdraw large sums of money from accounts.

Sergeant Chris Collins, from the Kingswinford neighbourhood policing team, said: "We are appealing to anyone who can identify the men to call us.

"We are working with local businesses to raise awareness on what to look out for and we would ask people to be extra vigilant when using cash machines.

"If you see anything attached to a cash machine which looks suspicious report it to the shop or bank or call your local police station on 101."

A total of three skimming devices have been recovered, on February 9 a device was found at the HSBC bank, another skimming device was found by staff at the NatWest Bank on February 18 and again on February 22.

The men in the images are described as possibly eastern European or Asian, one has a beard and moustache and was wearing a woolly hat and dark jacket. The other man has short dark hair and was wearing a cardigan type jacket.

Officers say people visiting ATMs should be wary of out of order notices which direct them to another machine or machines that appear to have a card stuck in the slot.

Customers are advised to try to use machines inside banks, cover their hand when entering a PIN number and avoid machines where people appear to be loitering.
