4:20pm Thursday 7th March 2013 in Local
THERE is nothing to suggest murdered Halesowen school girl, Christina Edkins, was being targeted West Midlands Police claim as they begin investigations into her tragic death.
The 16 year-old Leasowes High School pupil was fatally stabbed this morning as she made her way to the Kent Road school from her Birmingham home on the number nine bus.
She had only boarded the bus a short time before the attack, which occurred around 7.37am in Hagley Road.
Following increased speculation online over some of her recent tweets, police have confirmed they will be looking through her social media sites as part of their investigations, but stress there is nothing to suggest she was targeted at this stage.
Over the past few weeks the teenager has tweeted “Eughh hate catching buses, can't wait to start driving”, while also posting messages about a fellow passenger saying: “This man is worrying me on the bus keeps getting up and walking up and down stairs, and sitting in different place.”
A 22 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a massive manhunt in the city centre.
Police spotted a man acting suspiciously in the area and was arrested near Morrisons supermarket close to the scene following a short footchase.
