A MAN has been arrested in connection with a road smash which killed a Kingswinford mum-of-two.

The collision, which happened in the early hours of December 8 on the A449 at Cookley near Kidderminster, claimed the life of 26-year-old Sam Jennings.

The former Summerhill School pupil, who worked as a care assistant, was a front seat passenger in a black Vauxhall Astra which left the road and hit a tree, near the Island Pool pub just before 1.30am.

The male driver was taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries, while a male rear seat passenger was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital with minor injuries.

A 22-year-old Stourbridge man was arrested on Wednesday March 6, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, and possessing cannabis.

He has been released on police bail until May 13, pending further inquiries.
