Closures announced for Stourbridge town centre route

DRIVERS in Stourbridge town centre are being warned in advance of the closure of Crown Lane.

The route will be shut from April 8 to 26 and July 8 to 26 as part of the redevelopment of the Crown centre site by Tesco.

During the closures diversions will be in place via Market Street and Bell Street with Crown Square open to traffic.

For the April closure no pedestrian access will be permitted however pedestrians will be able to use Crown Lane during the July closure.

Councillor Judy Foster, Dudley cabinet member for transportation, said: “Stourbridge town centre is open for business as normal during these works, which are essential as to allow the next stage of development at the Crown Centre to take place."

In April workers will fitting a steel frame and roof for the new supermarket, the July closure will be to facilitate the construction of a new roadway.
