Jail for heroin junkie

A STOURBRIDGE drug addict has been jailed for threatening his girlfriend if she did not smuggle heroin into prison.

Adam Morris, aged 25, of Palfrey Road, Stourbridge, was given a four-year term at Stafford Crown Court after he admitted asking Lisa Goode to smuggle drugs into Stafford prison.

Goode, the mother of a two-year-old daughter, of South Road, was caught after a strip search at the jail where Morris is currently serving four years for burglary and attempted burglary.

Simon Rippon, prosecuting, said: "Adam Morris made repeated requests for Lisa Goode to take heroin into the prison and he became increasingly violent.

"A third party became involved and made threats to her by phone and letter. She agreed to meet that person in the street and he passed to her a small amount of heroin.

"She visited Stafford Prison and a strip searched was carried out and the drug was found concealed in her trousers. She told prison officers that 'he forced me to do it'."

Goode was given a 12-month jail sentence suspended for two years and ordered to carry out 200 hours community service.

She pleaded guilty to possessing heroin with intent to supply.

Morris admitted incitement to supply heroin, his four year sentence would be served consecutive to his current term.

Miss Michelle Healey, defending Morris, said: "He accepts asking her to do it.

"He is deeply remorseful for having placed her in this situation and accepts full responsibility for putting pressure on her and the verbal threats that were made."

Judge Paul Glenn told Goode: "Your conduct is more reprehensible because you took your two-year-old daughter along with you and she was searched.

"You must have known what you were doing was wrong. But I accept you were placed under enormous pressure to do what you did."
