ORGANISERS celebrated another bumper year of entries in the annual Clent Flower Festival.

Around 100 extra exhibits were submitted into this year’s open show - held at Clent Parish Hall on Saturday September 7 and organised by Clent Women’s Institute and Clent Gardening Club.

High standards were noted in the craft and bakery sections and partcularly in the photography category which was flooded with entries.

Chairman Pat Orme said she was “absolutely delighted” with the response from the village and the number of youngsters taking part - some of whom submitted entries in the adult section as well as the specialist children’s classes.

She added: “It is amazing in this day and age how much support there is from the village for the show; it really made a lovely afternoon out for families.”

Helen Maybee from Clent won the gardening club’s merit cup for best exhibit in the flowers, plants, fruits and vegetables section for her "outstanding" tray of mixed vegetables; while Barnaby Arul, aged nine, from Clent, won the cup for best entry in the children’s section for his nature collage and a cup for the best eggs in the show.
