Stourbridge charities could be in line for windfall thanks to building society
12:19pm Monday 16th September 2013 in Local
STOURBRIDGE residents are being asked to nominate a charity they would like to receive a share of a £100k windfall from a building society.
Yorkshire Building Society is appealing for people to drop into its Stourbridge branch this week - its Make a Difference Week - with suggestions of worthy good causes.
All charities nominated will be considered for a £100 share of the £100k the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is looking to donate.
Kulvinder Kullar, manager of the Stourbridge branch, said: “This is our opportunity to help some of the smaller good causes that can often be overlooked for donations.
“We’ve made it as simple as possible for people to tell us about their favourite charity – all they have to do is call into the branch and fill in a form and within weeks their charity could get a cheque for £100.”
The £100k is largely made up of donations the Society receives through its ‘Small Change Big Difference’ scheme which sees members choose to donate pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts to the Charitable Foundation.
