Stourbridge set to host Midlands Whisky Festival
5:00pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in Local
STOURBRIDGE wine merchants Nickolls and Perks are gearing up to bring the Midlands Whisky Festival to town.
There will be more than 200 different whiskies available to taste at the event being held at Stourbridge Town Hall, in Market Street, on Saturday September 28, from noon till 4.30pm.
Tim Robbins, marketing manager at Nickolls and Perks - based on the corner of Coventry Street, said: “This is the fourth time we've held this increasingly popular event. It’s probably the largest of its type outside London and, we believe, the best.”
There will also be food and live music at the festival and two additional masterclasses, offering participants chance to try exclusive whiskies worth thousands of pounds.
Colin Dunn - whisky ambassador for drinks giant Diageo - will provide an in-depth look at distilleries and offer visitors an opportunity to taste rare and complex drams from 2.30pm in the Amblecote Room at the town hall.
And from midday Dalmore’s rare whisky director, David Robertson, will be offering premium ticket holders a rare chance to try Dalmore Constellation samples, worth more than £14,000, from 1978, 1981, 1990, and 1992.
Mr Robbins added: “This is the only public tasting of Dalmore Constellation expressions in the UK this year. The next occasion will be in Monte Carlo at considerably greater cost.”
