Asda staff walk 5k for breast cancer charities

SUPERMARKET staff completed a 5k sponsored walk in Stourbridge to raise funds for breast cancer.
Employees from Asda’s Brierley Hill and Merry Hill stores were joined by customers for the trek at Mary Stevens Park on Sunday September 15 as part of supermarket’s Tickled Pink campaign.
Asda launched the campaign in 1996 to raise money for two charities, Breast Cancer Campaign, which provides support for sufferers and their families and Breast Cancer Care, which funds research into the disease.
The Brierley Hill supermarket’s community life champion Steph Walker said: “Asda has a long and proud history of supporting breast cancer awareness, helping to raise more than £25m in 17 years.
“It was great to see the people of Brierley Hill and Merry Hill get fully behind the activity as we all know someone or a family that has been affected by cancer.”
It is unknown how much the event raised as sponsorship is still coming in.
