Wordsley fire could have been started by electrical fault
12:34pm Monday 7th October 2013 in Local
A SEVERE fire at a Wordsley home is believed to have been started by an electrical fault in the loft space.
Five fire crews fought the flames at a terrace in Smallshire Way at around 10pm on Saturday October 5.
West Midlands Fire Service press officer Steve Harris said the occupants of the house had got out when firefighters arrived.
Station commander Harris said smoke and water damage affected the whole of the two-storey mid terrace with firefighters at the scene until 1pm the next day dampening down and making the site safe.
He said: "The fire started in the loft space, the cause was believed to be electrical.
“Crews worked hard to rapidly bring the fire under control and prevent damage to neighbouring properties.”
Crews from areas including Brierley Hill and Handsworth, using breathing apparatus and a hydraulic platform, tackled the blaze.
