A TEAM of fundraisers from a Dudley borough fostering and children’s services group scooped £700 to help young people in Kenya.

The team of 12 volunteers from Core Assets took a big step towards their £1,500 target by hiking the four-mile Snowdon ranger trek.

The team is raising the cash to hold a conference in the African nation for people leaving care to share their experiences to provide valuable knowledge in a region lacking some back up services.

Ian Thomas, a project officer at Core Assests in Birmingham Road, Dudley,, said: “I guess being a care leaver myself and knowing how hard it is in UK, even though we have so much more support here, it led me to think how much harder it must be to raise money in Kenya. That is why I wanted to help.”
