WEST Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Bob Jones congratulated budding Stourbridge artists on their prize-winning efforts in a crime prevention poster competition.

Six arty youngsters were presented with Kobo Mini e-readers, donated by Ryemarket manager Kelley Dyas, at Stourbridge's cop shop in the Ryemarket on Thursday December 19.

Children from Ham Dingle Primary, Hob Green Primary, Pedmore C of E Primary, Greenfield Primary, St James Primary and Stourbridge College worked with officers from Stourbridge Police Station to design posters urging people to keep their possessions safe - which will be used to promote future crime prevention crackdowns.

Emma Lisles, aged ten, Molly Crewe, aged ten, Daniel Rashid-Jonson, aged ten, Aanya Ahmed, aged nine, Luke Grainger, aged 18, and Grace Jordan, aged ten, were the prize-winners in the competition which was launched to make children more aware of personal safety and home security.

Police and Crime Commissioner Bob Jones said: "Young people have an essential role to play in helping to make our communities safer and it is great to see them encouraged to take an active interest in crime prevention. I would like to thank all the organisations including schools, police and local retailers, who have worked together to run this competition."

Neighbourhood Sergeant Andy Pugh said: "It was really difficult to narrow down but I think the public will agree the six winning posters are great and really get our crime prevention messages across."
