HIMLEY Hall will be holding an open day this weekend for couples planning to get hitched.

The historic hall will throwing open its doors on Sunday January 19 to give people chance to view the ceremony rooms available for their big day at the 18th century Grade II listed venue, which was once the stately home of the Earls of Dudley and which sits in 180 acres of landscaped parkland created by Capability Brown.

Councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture for Dudley Council which runs the hall, said: β€œThe open day will be the perfect opportunity for couples and their families to look around the famous hall, and plan their special days.”

The free open day, which starts at 11am, will also offer couples chance to meet wedding co-ordinators and catering managers to discuss their day.

Registrars will be on hand to discuss the civil ceremony process at the hall – where the Duke and Duchess of Kent spent the first two weeks of their honeymoon in 1934.
