STOURBRIDGE is set for a place amongst the glamour of the international jet set at the Cannes Film Festival.
A team from Base Media Productions Ltd is heading to the south of France to show off their flagship project, a new TV show featuring rock legend Rick Wakeman.
The programme, which is called Soundbites, combines music and food as Rick Wakeman interviews A-list celebrities while a top chef cooks the guest’s favourite food.
The company has produced a trailer for the show featuring singer Ruby Turner and Michelin-starred chef Andy Waters.
Base Media Productions Ltd will be at the MipTV exhibition event in Cannes to show off the programme to TV company chiefs, in a bid to get the show commissioned for a series to be shown in a prime-time slot.
The Base Media Productions team will be setting out from their headquarters at Base Studios in Rufford Road on Friday April 4 on their mission to impress TV executives.
Warren Evans, from Base Media Productions, said: “We have already had plenty of interest in Soundbites from some major TV production companies in London but we believe the programme would appeal to producers all over the world.
“We aim to make sure we spread the word about Soundbites as far as possible and MipTv is one of the biggest events of its kind, bringing thousands of programme-makers together to exchange ideas.
“This is a great opportunity to bring a major TV project featuring some of the biggest starts on the planet to Stourbridge, which would fantastic news for the region.
“Rick Wakeman is 100 per cent behind Soundbites and has been on board from the start.”
Rick Wakeman added: “When the guys from Base Media Productions got in touch with me about an exciting new TV programme idea called Soundbites, a programme about food and music, my first thoughts we're what a great combination and right from the start I was totally behind the concept.
“I am really excited about the prospect Soundbites will be shown at this year's MipTV festival in Cannes in April."
