POLICE have closed a road in Brierley Hill for forensic examinations after a man was attacked in his car.

The 34-year-old driver was uninjured and at this stage officers believe this was a targeted attack.

Inspector Jim Munro, from West Midlands Police CID, said: “We are currently trawling CCTV and searching an area of Dudley Road which is now sealed off.

“We are in the early stages of our investigations and continue to establish the circumstances around the incident.

“I want to reassure the community that we believe this was an isolated incident and thankfully no-one was injured.

“This was near to a nightclub and I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and who may have witnessed something to call me or one of my team on 101.”

Dudley Council has switched off traffic lights at the scene to assist police.

A spokesman from Dudley Council said: "The traffic lights were shut down following a request from the police who are responding to an incident in the area. The road will remain closed until it is re-opened by the police."
