YOUNGSTERS will be able to make half-term fun a thing of the past at museums around Dudley Borough.

Juniors at Museums (JAM) club will be hosting activities at all three Dudley Council museum sites, from craft activities and trails to free fun days.

Free family trails, giving clues for a search for objects around the venues, will be available every day from Saturday February 15 to Sunday February 23 at Broadfield House Glass Museum, the Red House Glass Cone and, until Saturday February 22, Dudley Museum and Art Gallery.

Further free activities include the Sticky Saturday family craft club, taking place from 1pm – 3.30pm on Saturday February 15, and an arts and craft make and take day, with the Brierley Hill Society of Artists, taking place daily during half-term from 10am to 4pm, both at the Red House Glass Cone, in Stourbridge.

Also taking place at the Red House Glass Cone is a Stick It craft and trail session on Thursday February 20. This is a drop-in pursuit costing £2.25 for the craft activity. In addition there will be a Holiday School aimed at children aged at least eight-years old, from 9.30am – 3.30pm on Monday February 17. The day involves a full day’s programme of art and craft activities and costs £22. This session must be booked in advance on 01384 815771.

On Wednesday February 19, Broadfield House Glass Museum, in Kingswinford, is running three interactive story, trail and craft activity sessions for children up to the age of five years old. This costs £2.25 per child. The glass museum is also hosting a kiln-fused glass session, giving youngsters the chance to make a glass tile. This is taking place on Friday February 21 and costs £3.90 per session. Both of these activities at the museum must be booked in advance on 01384 815571.

Dudley Museum and Art Gallery, in Dudley town centre, is running a crafts and trail family day, using the cartoon ‘Frozen’ as its theme, for children aged four years old and older. Taking place on Tuesday February 18, the activity costs £2.25.

Councillor Tracy Wood, Dudley cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “There is a wide variety of activities on offer for families this half-term. We have a proud heritage in the borough of arts and glass making and I hope that youngsters enjoy these opportunities to get stuck in.”

Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of all workshops except the Holiday School session.

Admission to all sites is free.
