12:00pm Saturday 8th February 2014 in Local
WORDSLEY’S Red House Glass Cone is hosting sessions for people wanting to make their own personalised Valentine’s gift for a loved one.
Saz’s Ceramics, based at the Camp Hill cone, is offering two clay day sessions at which people can paint a heart shaped trinket box for £5.
Sessions run from 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday February 13, and items can be glazed for an additional £1.
Places must be booked in advance on 07966 514766.
Aspiring artists can also try making a large scale mixed media heart painting in a Hearts Full of Colour session with artist Sean Counley – from 11am to 2pm on Thursday February 13.
No experience is necessary. The session costs £12 and booking is essential. Call 07875 577232.
The made@the cone tenants are also offering personalised gifts - glass beadmaker Sarah Jones taking commissions for handmade jewellery which can be designed by the gift giver.
Other gifts being made on site include colourful, palm-sized glass love hearts by Charlotte Hughes-Martin which can be engraved with a name or message; small engraved glass love heart pendants and recycled engraved glass bottle lanterns by Stuart Goodings and Stuart Caldicott; fused glass hangings by Jane Ellis which can be engraved with names and messages; portraits and personalised fairy wish jars by painter Sean Counley; fabric hearts by Jaki Thompson; bespoke jewellery by Rebecca Handy and personalised photograph and message mugs, phone covers and key rings by printer Chris Cook.
Visitors can also drop into the Stourbridge Crystal Glass Centre and have any of their crystal glass items engraved with a personal message.
The cone will also be running a free Valentine’s duck trail and providing free papercraft activities for youngsters.
Councillor Tracy Wood, Dudley’s cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “The cone is the perfect place to find or make a Valentine’s gift, with personalised items from the cone’s studio artists and plenty of scope to express both affection and creativity in one of the workshop sessions.”
The cone is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Sunday. Admission is free.
