BOROUGH voluntary groups which provide support and social activities for adults in the community are urged to apply for funding.

Groups operating within Dudley borough can apply for grants to support their work through this year’s small grants scheme.

The Dudley Council scheme is aimed at groups that provide support and social activities and look to extend their services to include people with disabilities and older people.

Last year grants ranging from £250 up to £984 were dished out to 97 organisations to help cover running and travel costs and to put towards equipment and venue hire.

Councillor Dave Branwood, Dudley’s cabinet member for adult and community services, said: “As a community council, we want to do all we can to support local groups and organisations for the benefit of local people. We’re really pleased that we have been able to support nearly 100 organisations to continue with the work they do and hope we’re able to support many more through this year’s scheme.”

The closing date for applications is Friday March 28.

All applications need to meet the criteria outlined in the application pack which can be obtained by calling 01384 815755 or by visiting website www.dudley.gov.uk
