FORMER MP and Government minister Ann Widdecombe will be the guest of honour at a fundraising dinner for Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Hospice in May.

An Evening with Ann Widdecombe will take place on Thursday May 22 at the Granary Restaurant at Shenstone, near Kidderminster.

Since leaving politics in 2010, the tough-talking ex-Tory MP has established herself as a popular TV personality - appearing on shows including Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Fit Club, and Call my Bluff.

She has also written four novels, including the 2002 best seller An Act of Treachery, and is currently writing a fifth.

Sue Williams, organiser of An Evening with Ann Widdecombe, said: “We are so delighted Ann has agreed to join us. It should be an excellent occasion and we all look forward to hearing her speak about her time in politics and her career now in television, and as a writer."

Ann, who currently hosts Sky Atlantic TV quiz show Clever Dick, will be signing and selling copies of her books on the night.

Tickets cost £29.50 and are available from Sue Williams on 01562 883834 or 07536 111637.
