A RAIDER smashed a window to get into a cottage in Hagley for a New Year's Eve burglary.

During the incident, in Wassell Grove between 9.50pm and 1.50am, the offender took a Dell laptop computer worth £600, a Sony digital camera, a wireless adapter and binoculars.

Cops are advising people to keep valuables away from windows and if possible locked in a cabinet.

They also advise using ultra-violet pens to security mark items and window stickers to warn potential burglars property is marked.
