COPS in Kingswinford are urging traders to join a hi-tech scheme to battle crime.
Officers say a radio network linking stores is already helping keep crooks away from the shopping centre by allowing staff to warn other stores about suspicious activity.
The network, similar to a successful scheme in Stourbridge town centre, also means businesses and police can monitor potential offenders.
Sergeant Keith Pagan, from Kingswinford police, said: "It's an improved way of sharing information, communicating and letting people know what's going on.
"It's relatively inexpensive, the radios cost around £120 and there are no subscriptions, shops already on board are finding benefits."
Despite a reduction in vehicle crime police are keen to stress people need should be aware thieves could strike at any time, with satellite navigation systems their top targets.
Sgt Pagan said: "These items may have been given as Christmas presents.
"Most thieves are opportunist and we advise people not to leave items on display."
More information on the radio network is available from Pc John Edwards and Pc James Barrett at Kingswinford police.
Police have announced the latest round of Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings where residents can contribute to setting police priorities in their neighbourhoods.
Meetings, which all start at 7pm, will be held at Calvary Church, Stallings Lane on Tuesday January 16, Wordsley Community Centre, Wordsley Green, on Wednesday January 24, Kingswinford Community Centre, High Street, on Monday January 29 and St Paul's Community Centre, Hawbush Road on Thursday February 8.
