WORK has begun on a canal-side development that will see 80 new homes built in Brierley Hill.

Lockside Walk, on the site of the former Lloyds engineering plant, Brettell Lane, will have a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, all with private rear gardens.

A total of 200 car parking spaces will be provided across the site with a combination of garages, on-site parking, communal courtyard and off-street parking.

Developer, Taylor Wimpey (West Midlands), hope to have a sales cabin on site next month and show homes are planned for completion in September.

The first wave of homes are due to be finished in November, with the whole development complete by late 2016.

Anne Wallace, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “We’re already experiencing a great deal of interest in the new homes at Lockside Walk and will be unveiling detailed plans and prices for these eagerly-awaited properties soon.

“In the meantime, I would urge anyone hoping to find their dream home here to act now to ensure they’re well placed to take their pick of the plots when the first selection of properties is released for sale.”
