ORGANISERS of the popular Wordsley Festival are gearing up for an exciting 2014 event.

Savage Skills, the UK's leading freestyle stunt team, will be providing interactive jaw-dropping shows at the family fun-day which will take place in King George V Park, Lawnswood Road, Wordsley, on Saturday June 14.

Running from noon to 5pm, the event will also include demonstrations of herding skills from K9 Quackers Sheepdog and Duck Display.

There will also be a host of charity and business stalls plus plus dance and other demonstrations as well as the Thomas Jones fun fair - which will be offering free fun fair rides for the disabled on the Thursday before festival day.

And ahead of the main event - the traditional Wordsley Festival Princess and Rosebud competition will be taking place on Saturday May 17.

The popular pageant, which is open to youngsters aged six to 11, will be judged at the Ashwood Inn, Bells Lane, Wordsley, from 2pm.

Winners of the coveted titles will be invited to officially open the festival and will be treated like Royalty for the day.

Last year Larissa Burke from Wordsley was crowned princess - while Laurie Grace Willetts from Wordsley scooped the rosebud title.
