Crews battle Brierley Hill blaze

AROUND 30 firefighters battled a factory blaze in Brierley Hill after an alarm at the Trimat Motor Parts building.

Crews from around the region were called to the Narrowboat Way premises to tackle a severe fire in an oven used to make components for vehicle brakes.

The incident took place at around 9.15pm on Thursday January 11 and officers, including seven wearing breathing apparatus, fought for over two hours to bring the blaze under control.

Watch commander Wesley Williams, from Brierley Hill Fire Station, said: "The fire was contained in the oven but smoke damage to the building was substantial, it could have been a lot worse."

An investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the fire.
