STOURBRIDGE Rock Choir helped raise over £800 for fellow member Sally Turner ahead of her 100km charity trek.

The 61-year-old trampoline instructor, who has spent 14 years travelling the world while raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, is gearing up for her ninth charity adventure which will see her walking across the mountains and glaciers of Iceland this July.

She has already accumulated £24,000 for the charity and hopes to reach £30,000.

Sally, from Redditch, who has previously travelled to Peru, Jordan, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Sahara and the Great Wall of China, said she coaxed choir colleagues to support her in return for a box of her homemade chocolates.

She said: "I was stunned by the generosity and support from the choir. Every penny raised will go directly to help people living with cancer."

Stourbridge Rock Choir has only been running since September 2012 but has already appeared at many major venues including Wembley Stadium and Liverpool's Echo Arena.

Closer to home, they performed at Stourbridge's Christmas Lights switch-on and Kidderminster Arts Festival.

They have a summer concert coming up at Birmingham's Symphony Hall on July 19 when celebrity guest Toyah Wilcox will join them.

Stourbridge Rock Choir are always on the look-out for new members.

There are no auditions and no previous musical experience is necessary.

The choir rehearses at Platters Cafe, formerly the Carlisle Centre, on Victoria Street close to the town centre.
