AGE UK Dudley will officially open its new premises for the over 50s in Brierley Hill next month.

The opening ceremony at the charity's Springboard Activity Centre on Level Street will take place at 12 noon on June 18 and organisers are hoping to have a well known celebrity on hand.

Thanks to lottery funding, which has been guaranteed for the next three years, the charity has been able to expand facilities at the centre, based at units 44 to 47 Waterfront East.

Activities on offer include IT courses, exercise classes, zumba, line-dancing and table-tennis, drama groups, art classes, photography and ballroom dancing.

Springboard activity assistant, Fran Cartwright said: "We've been able to increase the amount of classes on offer because the facilities at Level Street are much better. "At the moment we've got around 30 different activities taking place."

She continued: "We've already seen an increase in the number of people attending classes since we moved from Merry Hill in March and we're looking for a great deal more.

"We don't just offer classes. We can provide holistic and beauty therapies and we also organised day trips out and visits to the theatre."
