MOVIE fans who attended a drive-in at Merry Hill helped to raise nearly £1,500 for charity.

Chick-flick favourite Pretty Woman made a return to the silver screen at the Brierley Hill shopping centre on Friday.

The film was selected by shoppers who cast their votes for their favourite film choice on Facebook and all proceeds from the event went to the shopping centre's charity for 2014, Help Harry Help Others.

To up the feel-good factor, movie-goers were treated to free popcorn and prize giveaways and Richard Gere and Julia Roberts lookalikes also stopped by to join the party.

Shoppers wanting to spot some real celebs were able to rub shoulder pads with pop star Peter Andre and Essex queen Amy Childs at the weekend, when they dropped by for the centre’s 80s themed Everyone’s Invited event.

The Mysterious Girl singer signed copies of his new perfume and album on Saturday for adoring fans, while former The Only Way is Essex star, Amy was promoting her new fashion range.

Keeping with theme, shoppers were also able to take part in a roller disco, watch a retro fashion show, go back to their big hair heyday with an 80s makeover and enjoy performances from local band R3 Action and Fierce Productions dance group.

Kelly Reed, senior marketing manager at Merry Hill, said: “We always look forward to holding our charity drive-ins, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint."

She added: “We were blown away by the response to our 80s-themed Everyone’s Invited extravaganza at the weekend – it was absolutely brilliant to see so many people turn up to take part in the festivities.

“We were thrilled to welcome Peter Andre and Amy Childs into the centre—as were plenty of our shoppers.”
