A FREE music festival will take place in Stourbridge next month.

Revellers at Our Big Gig will be able to enjoy live music and take part in various music based activities and workshops, at The Arena, Hagley Road, on Saturday July 12.

The event will run from 11am to 4pm and all proceeds raised from the sale of refreshments on the day will be donated to Mary Stevens Hospice.

Creative Support, a social care service provider for people in Dudley borough with learning disabilities, mental health and other needs, has organised the event, using funding from Superact - an arts organisation, that uses creativity to improve the health and wellbeing of people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Aiesha Parker, development officer at Creative Support, said: "The gig is a chance to bring communities together, to dispel preconceptions about different groups of people and to encourage social cohesion in Dudley.

"We will have performances from live bands and musicians with and without learning disabilities, to show that everyone can share a passion for music and be creative."

She added: "We are looking for any local musicians or bands who want to play and use the event as a platform to raise their profile."

Any performers that would like to take part, should contact Aiesha on 07580969368.
