RED Hill road in Oldswinford is set to re-open to two way traffic next week.

Extensive work to permanently fix Red Hill wall, which crumbled into the road on Christmas Eve 2012, has been completed ahead of schedule and the road is set to re-open two ways from 6am on Wednesday June 25.

The road has been closed between The Heathlands and Arlington Court since March 24 while the structural, load-bearing wall was extensively rebuilt following the landslide some 15 months earlier.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley's cabinet member for transportation, said: “Our engineers have worked hard to repair the extensive damage to this important structural wall.

“I’d like to thank residents for their patience while the work was being carried out.”

Motorists had been warned the road would be closed until July 7 but Halesowen contractors Nu-Weld Engineering Services managed to complete the work early.
