WALL Heath pubs The Prince Albert and Horse and Jockey will pool their resources this Saturday to help stage a summer fun day.

Both pubs will make their car parks available for the event which will feature a cork gun shoot-out, a pig roast, a range of stalls, penalty prize competition and live music.

The event, running from 10am to 4pm, has been organised for the past five years by Michelle Preston, whose husband Alan is licensee of the Horse and Jockey.

Money raised from the bash will go to Compton Hospice and Kidney Research UK, a charity close to Michelle's heart as her 17-year-old nephew Jake Woofenden from Norton suffers from a rare form of kidney disease known as FSGS.

Michelle said: "I've organised the fun day on my own for the past five years but I'm now looking to get more people involved and expand the event much further. We have big plans for the village."
