STOURBRIDGE teen fiction author David Massey has been nominated for another award.

The rising literary star's second novel Taken has made the shortlist for the Dudley Teen Book Awards, which are now in their fourth year.

Released 18 months after his award-winning debut book Torn - Taken follows a group of gutsy teenagers, including wounded Afghan soldiers, on a round-the-world charity yachting trip which turns into a nightmare when they are captured by a notorious warlord and his band of child soldiers.

David, who launched Taken at Crestwood School on World Book Day, said: "I’m absolutely thrilled to hear that local readers are enjoying it as much as Torn."

The author, from Withymoor, Amblecote, who is signed to Chicken House publishing company, has been busy touring schools across the UK since landing a book deal with Barry Cunningham who launched JK Rowling's career.

And he's keen to keep up his classroom visits to inspire more young writers to follow their dreams.
