A WOLLASTON man died after taking a fatal combination of drugs and alcohol, an inquest heard.

Simon Bowen, aged 39, was discovered dead at his Kingsway home on January 22.

The inquest at Dudley Coroners Court today (Thursday) was told that Mr Bowen had problems with alcohol.

Pathologist Sixto Batitang, said Mr Bowen had no external injuries and an examination of his vital organs was inconclusive.

However a toxicology report found traces of alcohol, diazapam and heroin in his system.

Senior Black Country coroner Robin Balmain said: "Mr Bowen's death was caused by the effect of substances found in his system, which caused depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system.

"The message for the public is that drinking alcohol and taking other substances is not a good idea."

Mr Balmain concluded that Mr Bowen had died due to the effects of drugs and alcohol.
