KING Edward VI College in Stourbridge has celebrated another outstanding set of A level results.
The Lower High Street college has once again maintained its position as one of the best in the country - scoring an overall pass rate of 99.1 per cent compared to the national pass rate of 98 per cent.
Nearly half of those collecting A level results today (Thursday) walked away with an A or A * grade - and there were 100 per cent pass rates in 35 subjects and A*/A/B pass rates of 60 per cent or more in 27 subjects.
Principal Sharon Phillips paid tribute to the hard work and determination of students and staff and added: "Today is a day to celebrate the successes of our students."
She said the college had maintained its high standards - despite changes to the education system which took away the opportunity to take exams in January.
Twenty two students gained four or more A or A* grades and 120 youngsters secured three or more A/A* grades; while every student in year 13 gained the equivalent of two or more passes.
Among the highest flyers were: Paul Guy who picked up four A levels at A* plus two A grade AS levels, Annie Saunders who got four A*s plus two A grade AS levels, and Jordan Lindsey who walked away with four A*s at A level.
AS level students also excelled - scoring pass and high grades "significantly in excess of national averages".
