ATHLETES are being challenged to take part in the Rotary Club of Kinver's annual 10K road race - reckoned by many to be one of the toughest of its type in the region.

The race includes a climb up the notorious 'Sheep Walks' which is expected to test the most hardened of runners.

This year's event takes place on Sunday October 5 and is expected to pull in another huge turnout as the race regularly attracts between 200 and 300 runners.

Rotary Club spokesman Mike Deathridge said: "The race is renowned for being particularly tough as it comprises a gruelling course along country lanes, circling the village, starting and finishing at Potters Cross.

"This year, we're throwing down the gauntlet for runners to come and take part."

The Rotary Club run the race ever year on behalf of Action Heart and entry forms can be obtained from the Dudley based charity's website www.actionheartrunning.com There's also a family 2kmfun run taking place as well.

Costs of staging this year's race has already been covered by main sponsor Bodykraft of Pensnett, plus Dudley Motor Company and Kidderminster based asbestos management specialists Safeline.
