THE Midlands Whisky Festival is heading back to Stourbridge this weekend.

The popular event, hosted by Coventry Street wine merchants Nickolls and Perks, will take place at Stourbridge Town Hall on Saturday September 27.

More than 200 whiskies and spirits will be on offer to taste at the festival which is held twice a year.

This time round there will also be a host of free masterclasses being staged by Buffalo Trace, Springbank, Mortlach and Macallan and visitors will have chance to try out more than 20 rare and expensive Dream Drams worth £50 to £100 a shot.

Around 400 whisky fans from across the country and beyond are expected to attend the festival, which has almost sold out and which organisers say is set to be the biggest to date.

Nickolls and Perks spokesman Tim Robbins said: "This is our sixth whisky festival. It started off as an annual event and we now hold it twice a year - in the spring and autumn - and this time we're taking more space than ever before at the town hall.

"We've also got people coming from overseas including two visitors from Austria who are coming over just for this event."
