DUDLEY mental health experts are encouraging people to get ‘appy’ and look after their well-being.

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has launched a new smartphone app, called Wellmind, which includes a host of features designed to help people stay happy and healthy.

The app, which is available for Apple and Android devices includes a calendar for users to record and monitor their feelings, information and advice on stress, depression and anxiety, and access to the Trust’s self-help guides plus useful contacts for people in crisis.

Also included in the app is music and games to help people unwind or relax if they are feeling stressed and anxious.

Trust chief executive, Gary Graham, said: “We are delighted to launch WellMind, our first ever app, which has been developed over the last 18 months by our staff and service users.

Stress, depression and anxiety are all common mental health problems and we hope that people across the country will find it a useful tool to find out more about these and access advice and support.”

The official launch of WellMind is being held at the Trust’s ‘Be Happy, Be Healthy’ event at Priory Park in Dudley on Saturday October 11 to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

The event will run from noon until 4pm and feature family friendly activities.

Trust chairman, Danielle Oum, said: “Everyone is welcome to come along to our Be Happy, Be Healthy event on October 11, where you will get the chance to try out new activities, have a free health check, enjoy a massage and get help and advice on how you can look after your mental health.”
