DUDLEY and District Friends of the Earth volunteers have been buzzy converting part of a Kingswinford park into a haven for bees.
The pressure group has turned a 20 square metre site in King George VI Park into a wildflower garden to provide essential food and shelter for bees.
Guy Sheppard, co-ordinator of the Dudley group, said Dudley Council gave permission for the project which is part of a national campaign by Friends of the Earth to try and reverse the decline in many of the UK's bee populations.
He added: "Hopefully, it will be good for bees, an attractive addition to the park and will inspire local gardeners to plant more bee friendly plants as well.”
Volunteers transformed the site and installed a plaque on Saturday September 27 - and they plan to maintain it by weeding and removing invasive plants.
