KINVER folk are joining forces to get fit and have fun.

The Kinver Fitness Collective aims to inspire people to take part in fitness activities from running, walking and cycling.

The Collective was created by Kinver's community officer PC Wayne Green together with runner and resident Sally Harris who has been a driving force behind the scheme.

Already the Collective has more than 100 members on its Facebook page which has been posting news of regular activities for everyone in the community to take part in.

Sally said: "It's great to see when a post goes up for a run or a walk, just how many people respond and get involved.

"So many local people are getting behind the Collective, which is important, because it's about everyone coming together to get fit no matter what their ability."

PC Green, who has been helping to get funding for the group, added: "I see a large number of people out on runs around Kinver and on their bikes and I thought, with the darker nights approaching, wouldn't it be great to have a group that could provide a safe environment for people to do this and not be alone."

To help raise funds for the Collective, they are holding a Christmas disco on December 20 at the KCA in Kinver with guest DJs and a raffle supported by traders.
