THE Mayor of Dudley joined stalwarts from Quarry Bank Royal British Legion to launch this year's poppy appeal.

Councillor Margaret Aston joined volunteers from the branch at Asda, Brierley Hill, on Saturday October 25 when they kick-started their 2014 fundraising efforts in memory of the fallen.

Members of the branch, which raised more than £25,000 for armed forces heroes last year, will be collecting at Asda, Brierley Hill; Sainsbury's at Merry Hill and in Eat Central at Merry Hill in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday on November 9.

Quarry Bank Royal British Legion will also hold its annual poppy concert on Friday November 6 at Quarry Bank Labour Club in Quarry Bank High Street.

The event, running from 8pm to 11.30pm, will feature entertainment from singers Jonathan Jones and Johanna Rose.

All proceeds will go to the branch's poppy appeal.

Tickets are priced £5 each and are available on the door or in advance from Vilma Griffin 01384 560282.
