KINVER'S Christmas sleigh is set to make its first seasonal appearance this Friday (November 28) to coincide with the big lights switch on in the High Street at 7pm.

The sleigh, which is run by the Rotary Club of Kinver, will then embark on a nine-night tour of Kinver, while taking in trips to Enville, Kingswinford, Wall Heath and Wollaston as well.

Last year's collection topped £6,000 for the first time, which was divided among village charities,

And although volunteers will be looking to beat that figure this time, the main objective of the sleigh outings is to spread joy and happiness in the run-up to Christmas.

The sleigh will put in an appearance on Sunday December 7 at Mary Stevens Hospice's Santa Jog at Mary Stevens Park.

It will also be out in Stone Lane, Church View Gardens and The Compa, Kinver, on Monday December 8; in Enville Road and Hyde Lane, Enville, on Tuesday December 9; at Stewponey, Hyperion Road and Bridgnorth Road, Stourton, on Wednesday December 10; in White Hill, Edgeview Walk and Meddins Lane, Kinver, on Thursday December 11; outside Aldi, Wollaston, on Saturday December 13; at Pet Zone, Prestwood, on Sunday December 14; in Belfry Drive, Ridgewood Avenue, Vicarage Road, York Crescent and Richmond Grove, Wollaston, on Monday December 15; Wolverley Avenue, Bridgnorth Road and Meriden Avenue, Wollaston, on Tuesday December 16; Wall Heath on Wednesday December 17; Dark Lane and Dunsley, Kinver, on Thursday December 18; Kingswinford's main shoppers carpark in the daytime - and Kinver High Street in the evening on Saturday December 20.

Kinver's big tree switch-on, which will see the High Street partially closed to traffic this Friday evening, will include a traditional hog roast, performances by local entertainers, seasonal refreshments and visiting specialist food stalls, competitions and a tombola.
