WALKING enthusiasts will be able to take in the stunning panoramic scenery over Kinver Edge this New Year.

Work has been taking place on the Edge over the past couple of months to reinstate some of the spectacular views.

Volunteers have joined forces with National Trust staff to clear overgrown trees and shrubs from the top of the steep slopes with breath taking effect.

Helen Selkirk, the Trust's community engagement officer, said: "Work is currently ongoing to reinstate the views, especially around the toposcope, where they had all but disappeared.

"A postcard of the Edge from 1915 shows just how sparse the landscape used to be.

"Winter is the best time to clear the trees as there are no birds nesting at the moment. The cleared areas will then be allowed to regenerate and will, in time, need treating again.

"With the autumn colours now ablaze with golden and red hues, the view can be quite spectacular on a clear winter's day. It's is a perfect time to visit Kinver Edge."
