DEDICATED staff who support dementia sufferers residing at a Stourbridge care home, have been nominated for a national award.

Stourbridge MP Margot James believes the team at Hollybush House deserve to win a Mental Health Heroes award, launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, to help recognise people who are changing the lives of people with mental health problems.

Ms James, who visited the Vicarage Road care home in October, said she was impressed by outstanding level of care shown by the staff and the familiar homely atmosphere that had been created.

She continued: “Tragically one in four people will experience a mental health problem this year, but there are people across the country working hard to help them.

"The Hollybush House team are pioneering new ways to support people with dementia, and I know that there will be a number of other unsung heroes in Stourbridge who deserve recognition too."

Care home manager Christine Lee added: “The nomination is a lovely surprise and is greatly appreciated by all the staff as recognition of their commitment to giving our residents the care they deserve.”
