BOROUGH residents still have time to take part in Dudley Council’s big switch campaign. The campaign is encouraging residents to register to take part in a collective energy switching auction.

During the auction, energy companies will compete to offer the best tariffs to those who have signed up.

Participating residents then have the option of switching their energy supplier to the best bidder, but there is no obligation to do so.

There have been five auctions in the borough over the last 18 months and these have resulted in more than 520 households switching to a cheaper energy supplier, saving over £105,000.

The next auction takes place on February 3 and residents need to sign up by February 2 in order to take part.

Councillor Pete Lowe, leader of Dudley Council, said: “I would encourage Dudley borough residents to get registered for the big switch, they have nothing to lose We all know that meeting the demands of rising energy bills is difficult, so we are supporting this scheme to help people make savings.

“The scheme works on the principle of offering bigger savings as we increase the number of people taking part so I would encourage households to sign up and make February’s auction an even bigger success than our last one.”

People can register for free by simply calling Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345 or online at www.dudley.gov.uk by following the link to the big switch.

Anyone who wishes to take part will need a copy of their energy bill and details of the tariff they are currently on during registration.
