COUNCIL workers have been battling extreme weather to keep traffic moving by laying over 275 tonnes of salt on roads.
A 36-strong team worked around the clock to keep nine gritting machines mobile tackling heavy snow falls in the early hours of Thursday February 8.
Treatment of roads and footpaths was set to continue during daylight hours with bin, recycling and green waste operations set to continue as normal.
Day centre transport was cancelled during the bad weather, extra staff have been laid on to deliver hot meals to people who would normally be taken to the centres.
